The IMO code, also known as the IMO number, refers to the identification code of the maritime organization and is the ship name code. It is based on the Lloyd's Register ship registration number specified by IMO

The principle of naming ship IMO codes:

(1) There are two types of ship names specified in this standard: * type is Chinese name, and the second type is English name.

(2) The Chinese name of container ships shall be represented by Chinese characters of no more than 8 characters. The Chinese character name may contain numbers and letters, but not all numbers and letters.

(3) The English name of container ships shall be represented by no more than 18 letters. When Chinese ships are represented in English, there shall be a letter space between each Chinese character spelling. Numbers and letters may appear in the English name, but not all numbers and letters shall be used.
