Operation and maintenance specifications for insulated life jackets
Date: 2025-10-10Read: 4
Insulated life jackets are emergency protective equipment designed specifically for people in distress at sea. They are constructed with multiple layers of special materials to create a closed protective system, which can effectively block heat loss and resist seawater invasion in harsh environments such as low-temperature seawater, wind and rain, and waves. This provides the wearer with several hours to tens of hours of survival time, waiting for rescue.
Usage, Operation, and Maintenance Standards
(1) Emergency wearing steps
Preparation stage: Take out the life jacket, unfold it and confirm that the zipper is fully open. Check that the face window and sealing strip are not damaged;
Wearing stage: Insert both feet into the pants legs and pull them up to the thighs; Insert both hands into the sleeves and fully tuck the body into the garment;
Sealing stage: Close the waterproof zipper from bottom to top and fasten the top lock buckle; Adjust the position of the helmet to ensure that the face window covers the face, tighten the cuffs and ankle elastic rings;
Inspection stage: Press the chest with both hands and feel that there is no obvious air leakage inside the clothing; Bending down and lifting legs test the flexibility of movements to ensure that they do not affect emergency actions.
(2) Key points of daily maintenance
Regular inspection: Check the sealing of the zipper (special lubricant can be applied), the brightness of the reflective strip, and the effectiveness of the anti fog coating on the window every month; Conduct a leakage test at a depth of 1.5m for 2 hours every quarter;
Storage requirements: It should be stored in a dedicated storage cabinet that is dry, ventilated, and has a temperature of 0-30 ℃, avoiding direct sunlight, contact with oil stains, or sharp objects; Do not fold and store (hang or lay flat) to prevent the insulation layer from being compacted and ineffective;
Life management: The regular service life is 5-8 years (based on the certification label). If it has been soaked in seawater or impacted, it needs to be tested immediately to confirm that there is no damage before it can continue to be used.
