Self adhesive rubber sheet: a convenient choice for efficient insulation and heat preservation

In the fields of architecture, HVAC, home appliances, etc., insulation materials are a key link in reducing energy consumption and improving user experience. Self adhesive rubber sheet, as a new type of material that combines insulation, heat insulation, sound insulation, and convenient installation characteristics, has become a popular insulation solution due to its inherent adhesive design, which greatly simplifies the construction process and meets the needs of multiple scenarios in terms of performance. ​
1、 Basic understanding: What is self-adhesive rubber sheet? ​
Self adhesive rubber sheet is made of closed cell rubber sponge as the substrate, with high viscosity pressure-sensitive adhesive composite on one or both sides of the sheet, and covered with anti sticking protective film. The core substrate rubber sponge is made of rubber and plastic (such as polyvinyl chloride, nitrile rubber, etc.) processed by foaming technology, forming a dense independent closed cell structure inside. Combined with the convenience of self-adhesive layer, it not only retains the thermal insulation performance of traditional rubber sheets, but also solves the problems of additional adhesive application and low construction efficiency of traditional materials. ​
Compared with ordinary rubber sheets, the core advantage of self-adhesive rubber sheets is that they can be "opened and glued" without relying on professional construction tools, and can be operated by a single person, especially suitable for narrow spaces and difficult construction scenarios. ​
2、 Core feature: Dual advantages of performance and convenience
Self adhesive rubber sheets can be widely used due to their outstanding performance in multiple dimensions such as insulation, thermal insulation, and construction. The specific characteristics can be summarized into five points:
Efficient thermal insulation: The closed cell structure of the substrate can effectively block air convection, with an extremely low thermal conductivity (usually ≤ 0.038W/(m · K)). It can reduce heat loss in winter and block external heat from entering in summer. It is suitable for thermal insulation of pipelines, walls, and equipment; ​
Excellent sound insulation and shock absorption: The rubber material itself has elasticity and can absorb sound waves and vibrations, significantly blocking medium to high frequency noise. At the same time, it can buffer the vibration of equipment during operation and is commonly used for sound insulation treatment of air conditioning ducts and equipment in computer rooms; ​
Waterproof, moisture-proof, and non condensing: The closed cell structure is non absorbent and non breathable, and can maintain stable performance even in humid environments, avoiding condensation in pipelines due to temperature differences and preventing damage to walls and equipment caused by moisture; ​
Self adhesive design is easy to apply: The built-in high viscosity pressure-sensitive adhesive can be directly attached to a flat surface (such as metal, concrete, plastic, etc.) after removing the protective film. It is firmly attached and does not need to wait for the adhesive to cure. The construction efficiency is increased by more than 30% compared to traditional materials, and it can reduce material waste during the construction process; ​
Safe, environmentally friendly, and aging resistant: High quality self-adhesive rubber sheets are produced using environmentally friendly materials, free from harmful substances such as formaldehyde and benzene, and comply with national environmental standards for building materials; Simultaneously possessing excellent aging resistance and UV resistance, the service life can reach 5-8 years for outdoor use and even longer for indoor use. ​
3、 Common classification: Divided by purpose and performance
According to different application scenarios and performance requirements, self-adhesive rubber sheets can be divided into the following categories for users to choose from:
Ordinary insulation type: focusing on basic insulation function, with low thermal conductivity, suitable for indoor pipelines (such as heating pipelines, water supply and drainage pipelines), wall insulation layer, and relatively affordable price; ​
Flame retardant and fire-resistant type: with the addition of flame retardants, the fire resistance level can reach B1 (flame retardant) or A (non combustible, requiring special processing), suitable for high-rise buildings, shopping malls, computer rooms and other places with high fire prevention requirements, which can effectively delay the spread of fire; ​
High density pressure resistant type: The substrate density is higher (usually ≥ 60kg/m ³), the compressive strength is high, and it is not easy to deform. It is suitable for ground insulation (such as underfloor heating cushion layer), equipment foundation insulation, and can withstand a certain weight of rolling; ​
Low temperature specific type: After special formula improvement, it can still maintain elasticity in low temperature environments (such as -40 ℃ to -20 ℃), without brittle cracking, suitable for insulation of cold storage pipelines and low-temperature equipment, avoiding material performance failure due to low temperature.
4、 Application scenario: Covering multiple domain requirements
Self adhesive rubber sheets are widely used in various fields such as construction, HVAC, home appliances, transportation, etc. due to their diverse properties. Specific scenarios include:
In the field of architecture: indoor wall insulation, ceiling insulation, floor heating cushion layer, door and window gap filling, can be combined with other insulation materials to form a composite insulation system, improving the energy-saving effect of buildings; ​
In the field of HVAC: insulation of air conditioning ducts, insulation of chiller pipes, and wrapping of radiators can reduce energy loss and prevent condensation and dripping of pipes, protecting indoor environments; ​
