The gas explosion accident that occurred in the Yanjiao area of Langfang, Hebei Province has attracted high attention from the public. The accident resulted in at least 2 deaths and 26 injuries. The building was severely damaged, some structures collapsed, and vehicles, residential buildings, and shops in the area were affected. Windows were broken, walls were damaged, and ceilings fell... The sudden and destructive nature of the explosion has brought us tremendous psychological shock, and the alarm bell for gas safety has once again sounded.
The reporter found that in 2022, a local merchant had a liquefied petroleum gas cylinder explosion accident, causing 2 deaths and 22 injuries. The incident site was only about 2 kilometers away from the explosion site. Afterwards, the installation of gas safety technical protection devices was monitored by the local leader, and the core content of the warning education meeting was publicly announced at the government of Langfang City.
The meeting emphasized the need to carry out a comprehensive investigation and rectification in key areas and industries, accelerate the installation of gas safety technical protection devices, and ensure that the "top leaders" in various regions personally monitor and ensure that all necessary installations are completed, no household is left behind, and the quality is up to standard, fundamentally preventing gas safety accidents from occurring.
Why is the importance of installing gas safety devices so high in response measures?
Firstly, we need to understand the principle of gas explosion.
Gas, especially liquefied petroleum gas, can form a combustible gas mixture when leaked and accumulated in a confined space. When this mixture reaches a certain concentration threshold and is fully mixed with oxygen in the air, once it comes into contact with an ignition source (such as an open flame, electrical spark, etc.), it will instantly ignite violently. Due to the extremely fast combustion speed, a large amount of energy is released in a short period of time, forming a pressure wave, which is called gas explosion.
The Yanjiao explosion incident is likely due to the failure to detect and eliminate gas leaks in a timely manner, which ultimately led to the tragedy. At this point, equipped with sensitive and reliable gas detectors becomes particularly crucial. Gas detectors can identify potential gas leakage risks in real-time by detecting the concentration of combustible gases in the environment. Once the safety threshold is exceeded, an alarm is immediately triggered and the gas supply is automatically cut off, effectively preventing further deterioration of gas leakage and preventing possible fire and explosion accidents.

Furthermore, in the transportation of gas, the DTS distributed fiber optic temperature measurement system can also prevent gas leaks on a larger scale earlier. This system uses optical fibers as sensing elements to accurately measure temperature changes at various points along the fiber optic path, especially suitable for temperature monitoring of long-distance, large-area pipelines and other important facilities. When the pipeline experiences a sudden increase in local temperature or thermal failure due to gas leakage, the DTS vibrating fiber optic system can capture temperature anomalies within 1 second and quickly notify relevant personnel to take countermeasures, effectively avoiding fire or explosion events caused by high temperatures.
