Let's give a comprehensive explanation of the "sheathed electric heater"

1. What is it?

Sheath type electric heater, also known as tubular electric heater or armored heater, is a very common and widely used electric heating element. Its core structure is to encapsulate the resistance heating wire (usually nickel chromium, iron chromium aluminum alloy) in a metal sheath (usually stainless steel, copper or titanium tube), and tightly fill the gaps with magnesium oxide powder (MgO) with good thermal conductivity and insulation properties. Finally, it is made into a sturdy and compact whole through the shrinking process.

Simply put, it's like an "electric sandwich":

Center: Resistance wire (heat source)

Intermediate layer: dense magnesium oxide powder (insulation layer, simultaneously conducting heat)

Outer layer: metal sheath (for protection, heat transfer, and contact with the environment)

2. Sheath type electric heaterKey Features:

Long lifespan: The resistance wire is sealed in a metal sheath, isolated from air, effectively preventing oxidation and greatly extending its lifespan.

High mechanical strength: With a sturdy metal sheath and dense structure, it can withstand significant impacts, vibrations, and pressures.

High thermal efficiency: Magnesium oxide powder has good thermal conductivity and can quickly and evenly transfer the heat generated by the resistance wire to the metal sheath, and then to the heated object.

Safe and reliable: Magnesium oxide powder can maintain good insulation performance and high insulation strength at high temperatures. The metal sheath itself is also grounded, ensuring safe use.

Can be bent into various shapes as needed: During the manufacturing process, the heating tube can be bent into various shapes (such as U-shaped, W-shaped, circular, etc.) according to the installation space and heating requirements of the equipment.

Wide range of applications: By selecting different sheath materials, shapes, and installation methods, it can be applied to various occasions such as heating air, liquids, metal molds, etc.

Main types and applications

According to the different heating media and installation methods, sheathed electric heaters mainly have the following forms:

type Image description Main features and applications
liquid heater Usually with threads (flanges), it is easy to install on the walls of oil tanks, water tanks, and boilers. Features:Directly immersing in liquid for heating, efficiency. Usually equipped with waterproof grade sealed wiring chambers.
Application:Heating water, oil, acid-base solutions, electroplating solutions, etc.
air heater Usually equipped with heat sinks to increase the heat dissipation area. Features:Equipped with fins, it increases the contact area with air and improves heating efficiency.
Application:Oven, drying oven, air duct, air conditioner, heater, etc.
Mold heater A slender rod-shaped structure that can be directly inserted into the heating holes of the mold. Features:Small diameter, long length, high power density.
Application:Temperature maintenance of injection molds, die-casting molds, and hot pressing molds.
Ceramic/Infrared Heater Sintering a layer of far-infrared ceramic coating on the surface of the metal tube. Features:It can transfer heat in the form of far-infrared radiation, with uniform heating and strong penetration.
Application:Paint drying, powder curing, semiconductor processing, etc.
Clamp type heater After bending the tubular electric heating element into shape, it is embedded into a metal cast aluminum sleeve. Features:The shape is tightly adhered to the surface of the workpiece, fixed by clamps or bolts, with good contact and low heat loss.
Application:Heat tracing and insulation for large pipelines, tanks, and instruments.
