Selection and maintenance of line protection measurement and control devices: ensuring reliable operation of the devices

In the stable operation of the power system, line protection and measurement devices play a crucial role. They are not only the "first line of defense" to ensure the safety of transmission lines, but also the "data center" to achieve intelligent monitoring of power equipment. Whether it is a 110kV high-voltage transmission line or a 35kV distribution network line, accurate protection and real-time monitoring of such devices are indispensable, and their performance directly affects the reliability, safety, and economy of the power system.
Selection and maintenance: Ensure reliable operation of the device
1. Key selection points
Voltage level matching: Select the corresponding device (such as 10kV distribution network type, 110kV transmission type) based on the line voltage (such as 10kV, 110kV); ​
Adaptation of protection function: High voltage lines should focus on longitudinal protection and distance protection; Distribution network lines should focus on grounding selection and reclosing; ​
Communication protocol compatibility: If connecting to an existing monitoring system, it is necessary to confirm the protocol supported by the device (if the original system uses Modbus, avoid selecting devices that only support IEC 61850); ​
Environmental adaptability: Outdoor substations should choose devices with high protection levels (such as IP45 and above), and in high-temperature areas, wide temperature types (-40 ℃~70 ℃) should be selected. ​
2. Daily maintenance
Regular inspection: Check whether the power indicator light and communication indicator light of the device are normal, and whether there are any abnormal alarms on the panel; ​
Fixed value verification: Check quarterly through the backend system whether the protection fixed value matches the current line parameters (to avoid mismatched fixed values due to load adjustments); ​
Data backup: Regularly backup fault recording data and operation logs for easy fault tracing; ​
Firmware upgrade: According to the manufacturer's notification, timely upgrade the device firmware (fix vulnerabilities, optimize functions), and backup the original configuration before upgrading.
