Used to protect antennas and transmitting and receiving equipment from lightning induced overvoltage damage on feeders - Installation and maintenance of antenna feeder signal lightning arrester
Date: 2025-12-24Read: 6
Antenna feeder lightning arrester, also known as antenna feeder signal lightning arrester, antenna feeder lightning arrester, etc., is an instrument used to protect antennas and transmitting and receiving equipment from overvoltage damage caused by feeder induced lightning strikes.
Application scenarios
Mobile communication base station: prevent the tower top antenna from being struck by lightning and transmit it to the equipment through the feeder, protect the RF port from lightning damage, and ensure uninterrupted communication.
Satellite receiving antenna: It can reduce the probability of LNB damage in the front end of the satellite receiver due to lightning strikes, and its low insertion loss characteristics ensure normal reception of weak signals.
Microwave link and wireless bridging system: can ensure that the link is not interrupted by lightning strikes, improving the reliability of long-distance transmission.
Cable TV and Cable TV System: Its 75 Ω version can be fully matched with the cable TV system, reducing image noise and signal interruption probability caused by power surges.
Installation and Maintenance
Installation location: Generally installed near the input end of the device, usually connected in series with one at the antenna output end and one at the input end of the protected device. In situations where there is less lightning and the antenna does not have an amplifier, only one can be used.
Grounding requirements: The terminal block on the lightning arrester should be welded with a grounding wire as short as possible, with a wire area of not less than 2.5mm ². The other end should be reliably connected to the grounding busbar of the lightning protection system, and the grounding resistance should not exceed 4 Ω.
Maintenance note: No special maintenance is required, but when the system malfunctions, the lightning arrester can be removed and checked again. If the system returns to normal after being restored to its pre use state, it indicates that the lightning arrester is damaged and must be replaced immediately.
