Application scenarios and selection points of MYP flame-retardant rubber sheathed cables
Date: 2025-12-08Read: 18
MYP flame-retardant rubber sheathed cable is a special cable designed for power supply of mobile devices. The core code "MYP" corresponds to the industry standard definition: "M" represents the category of mining cables, "Y" refers to natural styrene butadiene insulation rubber material, and "P" represents the shielding structure (usually copper wire braided shielding layer). This cable features "flame retardancy" as its core highlight, and possesses multiple characteristics such as wear resistance, bending resistance, and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in mobile electrical scenarios with high safety requirements, such as mining machinery, port lifting equipment, construction machinery, and other fields. It is a key cable product to ensure the safe and stable power supply of mobile devices.
Applicable scenarios and selection points
(1) Typical Applicable Scenarios
Mining industry: The power supply for mobile equipment such as underground tunneling machines, scraper conveyors, and transfer machines must meet the requirements of flame retardancy, impact resistance, and rolling resistance (some scenarios require the use of armored MYP22 models);
Construction: The temporary power supply for equipment such as tower cranes, construction elevators, and concrete pump trucks needs to adapt to the characteristics of outdoor wind, sun, and frequent movement;
Port logistics: Power cables for equipment such as gantry cranes, gantry cranes, and stacker cranes must withstand seawater salt spray and oil pollution erosion;
Industrial manufacturing: The power supply for robot arms, mobile production lines, assembly lines, and other equipment in the factory needs to reduce electromagnetic interference to ensure stable operation of precision equipment.
(2) Key points of selection
Determine specification parameters:
Conductor cross-section: Select according to the rated current of the equipment. For example, a 110kW tunneling machine needs to choose 3 × 50+1 × 25mm ² (3 live wires+1 neutral wire, with the neutral wire cross-section being 1/2 of the live wire);
Core count: Typically 3 cores (three-phase power), 3+1 cores (three-phase+neutral wire), 3+2 cores (three-phase+neutral wire+ground wire), depending on whether the equipment requires separate grounding;
Voltage level: For low-voltage equipment (380V/220V), choose 0.6/1kV level, and for medium voltage equipment (6kV/10kV), choose 6/10kV level (special note should be given to "high-voltage MYP cable").
Matching environmental requirements:
Wet underground and at risk of crushing: Choose the MYP22 model with steel wire armor (adding steel belt armor and outer sheath outside the sheath layer);
Coastal and chemical environment: Choose customized products that are resistant to salt spray/chemical corrosion, and replace the sheath material with EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber);
Low temperature environment (such as outdoor in northern winter): Choose the "low-temperature weather resistant type", add cold resistant agents to the insulation and sheath materials to ensure normal use at -50 ℃.
Identification standards and certification: It is necessary to select products that comply with the GB/T 12972.6-2008 "Mining rubber sheathed flexible cables - Part 6: Mobile flexible cables" standard and have the "Coal Mine Safety Mark Certificate (MA Mark)" (mandatory requirement for underground use in mines); For non mining scenarios, products that comply with GB/T 5013-2008 "Rubber Insulated Cables with Rated Voltage of 450/750V and Below" can be selected.
