Application Fields
Ship power system: As the power supply cable for the main propulsion motor and auxiliary equipment (such as generators and pumps), it provides strong electrical support for ship navigation and equipment operation, ensuring stable power output of the ship under different working conditions.
Lighting system: Connect lighting fixtures in various areas of the ship, from the interior of the cabin to the deck operation lighting, providing a bright working and living environment for the crew, and ensuring lighting safety during nighttime navigation of the ship.
Control and Monitoring System: Used to transmit control signals and monitoring data, connect ship control systems with various sensors and actuators, achieve remote monitoring and precise control of ship equipment, and ensure safe and efficient operation of ship navigation.
Offshore platform: Used for power transmission and equipment control in offshore oil drilling platforms, offshore wind power platforms, and other facilities, to meet the complex power needs of the platform and adapt to harsh working environments at sea.
Installation points
Path planning: Before laying, based on the layout of the ship's electrical system and equipment location, the cable path should be reasonably planned to avoid heat sources (such as engine exhaust pipes), water sources (areas prone to water accumulation), and areas with frequent mechanical activities as much as possible, in order to reduce damage to the cables caused by external factors. At the same time, keep the cable routing neat and orderly for easy maintenance and repair in the later stage.
Fixing method: Use specialized cable clamps, zip ties, etc. to fix the cables at regular intervals (about 1 meter horizontally and about 2 meters vertically) to prevent displacement and wear caused by ship vibration and shaking. When passing through cabin walls and decks, it is necessary to install sealed and fire-resistant cable penetrations to ensure the sealing and fire separation performance of the cabin.
Bending radius: During the laying process, the bending radius of the cable shall not be less than 6 times the outer diameter of the cable (depending on the cable specifications), to avoid excessive bending that may cause deformation of the conductor, damage to the insulation layer, and affect the performance and service life of the cable.
Wiring operation: Professional electricians shall operate according to electrical installation specifications, clean the surface of the conductor before connection, and ensure good and firm contact at the connection site. Using appropriate wiring terminals and techniques such as crimping and welding, after completing the connection, insulation treatment should be applied to the connection to ensure that the insulation performance is not lower than that of the cable body.
Maintenance and upkeep
Regular inspection: Conduct a monthly visual inspection of the cable to check for any damage, cracking, bulges, and signs of aging or corrosion on the protective sheath. If any problems are found, they should be promptly addressed. At the same time, check if the cable fasteners are loose to ensure that the cable is securely installed.
Insulation testing: Use an insulation resistance tester every quarter to measure the insulation resistance of cables, compare the initial value with the standard value, and determine whether the insulation performance has decreased. If the insulation resistance is too low, the cause should be investigated, such as moisture, damage to the insulation layer, etc., and corresponding repair measures should be taken.
Cleaning and maintenance: Regularly clean the dust and oil stains on the surface of cables, especially in areas with heavy oil stains such as engine compartments and kitchens, to prevent oil stains from corroding the protective sheath and affecting cable performance. Use a soft damp cloth during cleaning to avoid scratching the cable with sharp tools.
Environmental assessment: Regularly evaluate changes in the cable installation environment, such as changes in temperature, humidity, and mechanical stress around the cable caused by ship modifications or equipment additions. Adjust the cable laying method and protective measures in a timely manner to ensure stable cable operation.
