smart-city-siteIndustry NewsNew H3C releases industry's ultra high density 200 channel multi-channel park switch, minimalist architecture reshapes high-density 10 Gigabit experience in parks

Smart CityOnline product review】AI technology is accelerating its penetration into end-to-end application scenarios, and park networks are facing unprecedented new demands. Its core has evolved from providing basic connections to supporting the smooth use of edge side AI applications to ensure high-quality and deterministic business experiences. This poses new requirements for the port density and deployment efficiency of the park network. Recently, New H3C Group, a subsidiary of Tsinghua Unigroup, released a new ultra high density 1U 200 road multi-channel park in the industryswitchH3C S6550X-54H-HI, With a minimalist architecture of "one floor, one box", we provide a cost-effective, efficient, and reliable solution for high-density 10G access scenarios such as campuses, hospitals, and corporate parks.

The current surge in all-optical indoor terminals and the popularization of high bandwidth services in the park have weakened the traditional network architecture. The mainstream 1U box type aggregation switch has a port density of only a few dozen. Faced with the 10 gigabit access requirements of hundreds or even hundreds of rooms in a building, multiple devices need to be stacked, which not only consumes a large amount of cabinet space and exacerbates the pressure on power distribution and heat dissipation, but also doubles the number of backbone fibers from the building to the core computer room, resulting in complex wiring and difficult operation and maintenance. Meanwhile, frequent expansion and renovation have also pushed up construction costs. The new 200 channel multi-channel park switch launched by New H3C Group has achieved a leapfrog improvement in the access density of the aggregation layer, accurately solving the above-mentioned pain points.
Ultra high density access: 1U 200 channels, breaking the industry density benchmark
H3C S6550X-54H-HI integrates 54 40/100G QSFP28 ports in a 1U standard rack, which can support industry-leading 200 channel 10G access through flexible splitting. The access density is 4 times that of traditional solutions and more than 25% higher than similar solutions. A single device can meet the complete access requirements of a medium-sized building, and can be easily expanded to 400 channels through virtualization stacking, fundamentally reducing the number of devices and greatly saving cabinet space and energy consumption.
Minimalist architecture: "One floor, one box", restructuring the deployment paradigm of the park
New H3C has innovatively proposed a minimalist deployment plan of "one device per building", which can achieve "one box per floor" aggregation by deploying a single S6550X-54H-HI in the weak current room of the building. Only 2 backbone optical fibers are needed for the uplink to carry 200 channels of traffic, while the downlink is distributed through standard passive splitters and ultimately uses single core optical fibers to enter the room. This architecture reduces backbone fiber by 80%, indoor fiber by 50%, and avoids the risk of fiber misconnection from the source, greatly simplifying cabling and management.
Standard compatibility: Standardized design, smooth upgrade of reused ODN
The device interface of this product supports switching to a regular 40G optical port, which can be plugged into a regular 40G QSFP+module. It is a dual-purpose device seamlessly compatible with regular 40G scenarios. When users upgrade from the original PON network to Ethernet optical network, the biggest advantage of this solution is to utilize the old ODN, which can be directly compatible with and use the original PON cabling scheme. Users only need to pay attention to the upstream fiber capacity of the splitter, without the need for large-scale transformation of the deployed cabling system, greatly protecting existing investments and achieving smooth evolution.
Efficient cost reduction: Full chain optimization, significantly reducing TCO
The multi-channel solution has achieved cost reduction and efficiency improvement from construction to operation and maintenance in all dimensions. The "one box per floor" greatly reduces the number of equipment and the space occupation of the computer room; Single fiber entry saves a lot of fiber material and deployment costs; Blind insertion of optical modules simplifies construction and shortens deployment cycles; The unified architecture and standardized components reduce operational complexity and spare parts investment, while comprehensively improving network performance and reliability, achieving the optimization of total cost of ownership (TCO) throughout the entire lifecycle.
At present, the solution has been successfully deployed in multiple universities, hospitals, and corporate parks, and has gained widespread recognition from users due to its core advantages of high efficiency, economy, and reliability. In the future, New H3C Group will continue to focus on technological exploration and breakthroughs in the field of all-optical networks, adhere to the "Ethernet+PON" fusion evolution route, deepen the research and application of core technologies such as multi-channel technology, continuously unlock unlimited development possibilities for all-optical parks, and inject strong impetus into the industry's digital transformation.
