2B Company Model BCP Black Carbon Analyzer in the United States
Product Introduction
The BCP black carbon analyzer is a sturdy, portable, high-precision, and economical instrument used to measure atmospheric black carbon particles in urban environments. The BCP black carbon analyzer uses a new direct long path photometry measurement technology to quantify the total extinction coefficient and mass concentration of particles in aerosols (gas+particles) in real time. This direct measurement method avoids the artifacts and other bias issues associated with other similar instruments in the current market, such as the commonly used measurement method of using filters to pre concentrate samples before analysis.
The photometer detection unit of BCP black carbon analyzer adopts a folded tubular design, which is an innovative technology that can quickly clean the pipeline, which is necessary for rapid switching between sample and reference measurements. Therefore, the BCP black carbon analyzer has high sensitivity, does not require pre concentration of the sample, and can directly and quickly measure black carbon. The foldable absorption unit provides a 2.1 meter absorption path length in a compact space, achieving an instrument weight of only 8.6 kilograms and a smaller volume for direct installation on a standard rack.
The BCP black carbon photometer directly measures the total extinction (absorbance+scattering) of particulate matter at two wavelengths (405 nm; 880 nm), with extinction measured in Mm-1.. The concentration of black carbon aerosols is mainly measured at a wavelength of 880nm, and the measurable range of black carbon mass concentration is 0.1-1000 μ g/m3. The extinction at a shorter wavelength of 405nm can better obtain information on aerosol optical absorption, optical properties, radiation transmission, emission sources, and source resolution, such as PM2.5 related positioning information. The BCP black carbon photometer is very useful for researchers studying the role of black carbon in air quality and climate, as well as air quality managers interested in estimating community exposure risks.
At longer wavelengths of the black carbon photometer (880 nm), the contribution of absorption to extinction is much greater. In polluted urban air, the instrument's response at 880 nm is mainly due to black carbon absorption. The measured extinction was converted to black carbon concentration (Ca,? Gm-3) by using an appropriate black carbon absorption coefficient (? Abs, m2 g-1) at 880 nm: Ca=Bext/? MEC? Bext/? abs。 At the shorter wavelength of the instrument (405nm), scattering dominates and the instrument response is more indicative of total aerosol concentration. The default value of the Mass Extinction Coefficient (MEC) of 880 nm black carbon is used in the instrument, but users can easily modify the values of two wavelengths according to the sampling environment? MEC。
