Linear image quality indicator is a tool used to inspect and quantitatively evaluate the quality of radiographic film images. Also known as Image Quality Indicator, or IQI for short, transparency meter. There are three types of linear image quality indicators used in industrial radiography: wire type, hole type, and groove type.

Also known as Image Quality Indicator, or IQI for short, transparency meter. There are three types of linear image quality indicators used in industrial radiography: wire type, hole type, and groove type. Among them, the metal wire type is widely used, and China, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and standards all use this type of line type image quality indicator. In addition, the United States also uses a flat hole type image quality indicator, and the United Kingdom and France also use a stepped hole type image quality indicator.
Linear image quality indicators can be classified according to different materials: steel linear image quality indicators, aluminum linear image quality indicators, titanium linear image quality indicators, copper linear image quality indicators, etc., represented by the codes FE, AL, TI, CU, respectively. When taking photos, the material of the line type image quality indicator should be the same as that of the specimen. When the same material line type image quality indicator is missing, a line type image quality indicator made of a material with a lower atomic number can also be used as a substitute.
