This gateway is a MODBUS/232/485 to PROFINET gateway, which is a type of serial PROFINET gateway. The gateway on the PROFINET side is a PROFINET IO slave, and on the serial port side, there are two physical interfaces: RS-485 or -232. It supports MODBUS/RTU master or slave protocols (selected by a DIP). When the MODBUS side of this gateway is used as the main station, it can be used for one to many integrated MODBUS/485 or one-to-one integrated MODBUS/232 devices, forming a MODBUS subnet and connecting to PROFINET to meet the technical requirements of PROFINET controller monitoring MODBUS devices. When the gateway MODBUS side serves as a slave station, it can be used to transmit data from other MODBUS master stations (such as PLC/DCS) and their slave stations to the PROFINET controller. The principle of this gateway technology is memory sharing, which does not require programming of the main station PLC/DCS. Simply configure the gateway MODBUS message in the main station configuration (such as STEP7) to achieve the automatic sending function of the gateway MODBUS main station.
