Dimensity Archive Blu ray Disc: Long term Protection of Important Data
Date: 2025-08-26Read: 6
With the rise and development of advanced technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence, the scale of various types of data is growing rapidly. At the same time, the demand for secure data storage has become a top priority. How to find a reliable and long-term "home" for important data has become an urgent problem to be solved.
Archive storage has always faced pain points such as difficulty in long-term preservation, high security risks, strict regulatory requirements, and high management costs. According to the requirements of the "Specification for Electronic Document Archiving and Electronic Archive Management", it is necessary to ensure the authenticity, integrity, availability, and security of electronic archives, and the preferred storage medium is CDs. In addition, a series of policies such as the "Action Plan for High Quality Development of Computing Infrastructure", "Electronic Archive Management Measures", and "Implementation Standards for Archive Digital Resource Backup" also clearly point the storage direction towards "optical disc storage", especially "Blu ray storage".
The reason why optical discs, especially Blu ray discs, receive policy support is precisely based on their unique advantages. Compared with traditional storage methods, Blu ray discs have high reliability, long storage life, tamper resistance, anti magnetic interference, strong compatibility, green energy saving, etc. It can be said that they represent the industry level in terms of capacity, performance, energy saving, etc. Moreover, their storage life is over 30 years, which can solve the pain points faced by archive storage and meet the requirements of electronic archive storage for storage media. They are suitable for long-term storage of important data.
Unlike ordinary optical discs such as CDs and DVDs in the consumer market, Blu ray discs that meet national standards generally refer to archival grade Blu ray discs, which strictly follow the storage standards of the archival industry, have strict requirements in raw material processing, production technology, and factory quality testing, have technical indicators superior to industrial standards, and meet specific durability requirements for recordable discs.
DMTV archive level discs strictly follow the national archive standards, and are far superior to ordinary consumer level discs in raw materials, production technology and quality testing. They have better weather resistance, aging resistance and data stability, and pass strict disc machine compatibility tests to ensure recording quality and long-term reading reliability. In terms of their shelf life, the storage life of Dimensity archival DVD discs is 20 years, archival Blu ray discs (25G/50G) are 30 years, and Blu ray discs above 100G can have a storage life of up to 50 years.

According to the "Regulations on the Scope of Filing of Government Document Materials and the Retention Period of Document Archives", the retention period of government document archives is divided into permanent and fixed-term (fixed-term is divided into 30 years and 10 years). So, for storing important archival data, choosing archival grade Blu ray discs not only has a large capacity, but also has a long storage life, meeting the requirements of electronic archival storage in government agencies. Moreover, in the long run, once Blu ray discs are burned, there is no need for frequent migration, and the total cost and energy consumption are relatively low, greatly reducing data management risks.
In practical implementation, we suggest combining archive level Blu ray discs with intelligent disc libraries, fully automatic disc burners, intelligent disc cabinets, etc. to create a data storage and archiving system that not only achieves secure storage, but also provides efficient recording, intelligent retrieval, centralized management, and other functions, covering the full lifecycle management of data from generation, recording, detection, archiving to retrieval.
