How to determine if the refrigeration system of the constant temperature and humidity test chamber is leaking

To determine whether the refrigeration system of the constant temperature and humidity test chamber is leaking, preliminary observation and detection methods can be combined. The following provides reference based on common fault phenomena and detection processes.

Preliminary observation method: Quickly identify obvious abnormalities through visual, auditory, and simple tactile senses, without the need for professional tools.

Check the appearance of pipelines and components: Check whether there are oil stains on the refrigeration pipelines (copper pipes), as refrigerant leakage often accompanies lubricating oil leakage, and the leakage point may have residual oil stains; At the same time, check if the pipeline is bent, flattened, or if there are cracks at the welding points.

Observe the condition of the heat sink: If the heat sink of the condenser or evaporator has severe dust accumulation or excessive frost, it may affect the cooling effect and needs to be cleaned or further inspected.

Listen for operating sound: After starting the cooling mode, listen for the sound of the compressor, which should be a steady buzzing sound normally; If there is a "click" sound followed by immediate shutdown, sharp abnormal noise, or dull shaking, it may be a compressor malfunction.

Check auxiliary equipment: For air-cooled equipment, feel with your hand whether there is airflow at the condenser outlet. If there is no airflow, it indicates that the condenser fan may be faulty.

Simple temperature judgment: When operating at low temperatures, if the cooling is slow or unable to cool down, but the compressor and fan are working normally, touch the high-pressure side copper tube. If the temperature is normal, it should be hot to the touch. If the temperature is not high, it may indicate a leak. ‌

Leak detection method: When suspicious signs are initially observed, it is necessary to use specialized tools to accurately detect the leak point.

Soap bubble leak detection: Mix soap water or laundry detergent water into a thin soap solution and apply it to suspicious points (such as welding joints, valve ports). If bubbles are generated and constantly expanding, it is a leak point; This method is simple and easy to implement, suitable for rapid on-site investigation.

Electronic leak detector: using a handheld electronic leak detector scanning system, with high accuracy and easy portability, it can quickly locate small leaks.

Pressure detection and compression method: After turning off the power, connect the high and low pressure gauges to the system valve port and observe the pressure value; If the pressure is zero or too low (such as below 50 PSI), there may be leakage. It is also possible to pressurize the system with nitrogen and place it in a water tank. Leakage can be determined by bubbles, but care should be taken to prevent moisture from entering the system.
