In wet or flooded scenarios such as ocean engineering, underground tunnels, water conservancy and hydropower, traditional cables often experience equipment shutdown or even safety accidents due to insulation failure, short circuits, and other issues. JHS waterproof cable, with its special three-layer composite protective structure and outstanding waterproof performance, has become the primary choice for power transmission in these environments. This article will analyze the core value of this "underwater special forces" from three aspects: technical principles, performance advantages, and application scenarios.

  1、 Technical analysis: Three layer armor construction for waterproof Great Wall
JHS cable adopts a standardized structure of "conductor insulation sheath", but the key to its waterproof performance lies in the dual upgrade of materials and processes:
1. Conductor layer: High purity oxygen free copper is selected, with a resistivity 8% lower than ordinary copper materials, ensuring minimal energy loss during long-distance transmission. At the same time, the compression process is adopted to achieve a filling coefficient of 0.92 or above for the conductor cross-section, effectively suppressing the skin effect.
2. Insulation layer: Using cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and silicone rubber composite insulation, XLPE provides excellent electrical performance (withstand voltage level up to 3.6/6kV), while silicone rubber endows a wide temperature range adaptability of -50 ℃~180 ℃. By using electron irradiation crosslinking technology, the insulation layer forms a three-dimensional network structure with a water absorption rate of less than 0.1%.
3. Sheath layer: The outer layer is co extruded with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and chloroprene rubber. HDPE provides mechanical protection (impact strength ≥ 50kJ/m ²), while chloroprene rubber forms a dense waterproof barrier (water permeability<1 × 10 ⁻¹² g/(cm ² · s · Pa)). The surface of the sheath is treated with embossing, increasing the friction coefficient to 0.6, making it easy to fix during underwater installation.
  2、 Performance breakthrough: surpassing the waterproof limit of IPX8
According to institutional testing, after continuous immersion in 2-meter water for 720 hours, the insulation resistance of JHS cable is still greater than 500M Ω (standard requirement ≥ 100M Ω), and there is no water leakage phenomenon. Its waterproof performance comes from two innovative designs:
1. Longitudinal water blocking structure: fill the conductor gap with semi conductive water tape, expand when encountering water to form a gel like sealing layer, and block the axial penetration of water.
2. Radial sealing process: Ultrasonic welding technology is used to fuse the sheath and joint into one, with a welding strength of 15MPa, far exceeding the 3MPa of traditional crimping process.
  3、 Application scenario: Global coverage from deep sea to the center of the earth
1. Ocean engineering: On offshore wind power platforms, JHS cables can withstand low temperatures of -40 ℃ and ocean currents of 10 meters per second to stably transmit 690V power required by the inverter, with a service life of over 25 years.
2. Water conservancy and hydropower: In the spillway tunnel of the Three Gorges Dam, JHS cables supply power to the gate opening and closing machine in a 100% humidity environment, and can withstand 50 opening and closing impacts per year without any problems.
3. Municipal engineering: In the Guangzhou subway tunnel, JHS cables supply power to the lighting system under a water pressure of 0.5MPa, reducing maintenance frequency by 60% compared to traditional cables.
  4、 Selection Guide: Three Steps to Lock in the Best Solution
1. Voltage level matching: Select 0.6/1kV or 3.6/6kV models according to equipment requirements to avoid insulation breakdown caused by overvoltage.
2. Installation environment adaptation: For static installation, choose the ordinary type, and for dynamic installation (such as ship vibration), choose the reinforced type (with added steel wire armor).
3. Temperature range confirmation: Cold resistant (silicone rubber sheath) is selected for extremely cold regions, and heat-resistant (fluororubber sheath) is selected for high temperature environments.
