Practical procurement techniques and pit avoidance points for bearing heaters
Date: 2025-12-31Read: 2
A bearing heater is a device used to heat metal parts such as bearings, gears, and bushings for interference fit assembly.
working principle
The bearing heater mainly works based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. When the metal is in an alternating magnetic field, it will generate current due to electromagnetic induction, and the current will form a spiral eddy current inside the metal, thereby causing the metal itself to heat up.
Practical procurement techniques and key points for avoiding pitfalls
1. Prioritize cost-effectiveness and reject low-priced and low-quality products
Avoid choosing low-cost equipment that costs a few hundred yuan, as such equipment has poor material quality and no quality inspection guarantee, which can lead to uneven heating, equipment failure, and other problems, and instead increase maintenance costs. High quality equipment (such as pure copper coils+standard silicon steel sheets) may have a high initial investment, but their service life can reach more than 10 years and their average annual cost is lower.
2. Clearly define customization requirements to avoid repeated adjustments
If there are special requirements (such as non-standard temperature, irregular workpieces, automation adaptation), detailed dimension drawings, materials, interference fit, assembly cycle and other information of the workpieces need to be provided in advance for the manufacturer to customize the solution. For example, for large-sized bearings such as wind turbine spindles (over 500kg), equipment that supports segmented heating and multi-point temperature measurement should be selected, and the insulation time should be extended (insulation time=bearing mass (kg) x 2 minutes).
3. Verify qualifications and after-sales service
Choose manufacturers with production qualifications and the ability to provide quality inspection reports, and prioritize viewing the temperature accuracy testing reports and safety certification documents of the equipment. After sales needs to guarantee a warranty period (at least 1 year), on-site installation and commissioning services, as well as long-term supply of vulnerable parts (such as heating rods and sensors).
4. Avoid common selection misconceptions
-Misconception 1: Only looking at the price without considering the parameters requires confirming the size and weight compatibility before comparing the prices;
-Misconception 2: Believing that larger is better. Ultra large power equipment is prone to heating small workpieces too quickly, leading to damage and high energy consumption;
-Misconception 3: Ignoring the high precision requirements for demagnetization function assembly, it is necessary to confirm that the equipment has an automatic demagnetization function to avoid residual magnetism affecting subsequent processes;
-Misconception 4: Confusion between installation and disassembly equipment. Most equipment is only suitable for installation, and disassembly requires a dedicated intermediate frequency disassembly device, which cannot be used universally.
