The sealing function of the STT R100 NV shaft seal is achieved by a threaded structure, commonly known as a helical seal, also known as a textured seal or viscous seal. This structure can be clearly presented by a shaft surface thread measuring instrument, where the number of diffraction fringes is an indicator of thread depth, and the distance between the diffraction fringes reflects the size of the pitch. The thread structure on the entire circumference of the sealing seat may be completely different. The characteristic of local dependence lies in the different parts of roughness and waviness, which cause periodic interference to the thread structure. However, the separation of the main threaded structure on the surface of the sealing seat can lead to leakage. In this case, it is recommended to conduct a 100% inspection of the circumferential surface, especially for long wave thread structures (DP 200 μ m). The periodic interference results in discontinuous stripe patterns. The period length exceeds 200 μ m, and the spacing between diffraction lines is very small, making it difficult for the human eye to distinguish. The Matesy STT R100 NV adopts an industrial camera solution, and the images recorded by the camera can be magnified by 4 times and displayed on the screen, significantly improving the resolution of the long wave thread structure (200 μ m-500 μ m). The STT R100 NV is primarily designed for 100% static inspection of the sealing seat surface during the manufacturing process and is connected to cameras and screens. The camera can also be read out by a PC through a standard TV tuner card. When rotating the axis between centers or in the lathe chuck, the disturbed diffraction line pattern can be compressed into upright lines, indicating the presence of a threaded structure.
