2015In, ASD Corporation (now part of Panaco, the Netherlands) launched the FieldSpec 4 ground spectrometer Hi Res NG, which increased the spectral resolution to 6nm, further improving the analysis accuracy of the next generation hyperspectral imaging sensors and marking an important transformation in ground spectral instruments.

Higher resolution hyperspectral instruments can assist users in improving the accuracy of remote sensing classification applications and identifying more pixel information that could not previously be obtained from hyperspectral images. In order to fully unleash the potential of next-generation sensors, ground-based spectral instruments must meet or exceed the spectral resolution of imaging sensors. If the resolution does not meet the requirements of hyperspectral imaging, important spectral information will be lost during post-processing due to interpolation.

The FieldSpec 4 Hi Res NG ground spectrometer greatly improves spectral resolution and is designed to meet the strict requirements of next-generation hyperspectral imaging systems such as AVRIS-NG and HySpex ODIN-1024. In addition to superior spectral resolution, like all ASD spectrometers, FieldSpec 4 Hi Res NG uses InGaAs SWIR detectors to detect the 1875 band (encoding channel) in the full spectral range of 350nm to 2500nm, providing smaller sampling intervals (sampling bandwidth) and ensuring the detection of finer spectral features of the sample.
