TeraSense is proficient in manufacturing powerful electromagnetic vacuum terahertz sources. This technology is based on the echo oscillation effect. An electron gun emits an electron beam, which is longitudinally concentrated under the action of an external magnetic field made of a permanent neodymium iron boron magnet. The electron beam interacts with a slow wave structure, producing a traveling wave that moves backward relative to the beam. This wave is coupled into a waveguide near the electron gun. Frequency tuning can be achieved by changing the acceleration voltage and device frequency. Electromagnetic vacuum terahertz sources generate enormous output power, making many applications within the terahertz frequency range possible due to this characteristic.
