UCL University in the UK has launched the latest generation of wireless portable fNIRS Hperscanning brain functional imaging ultra scanning system based on 30 years of near-infrared research experience. It supports both wired and wireless operation modes and uses high-density near-infrared technology, with a maximum of 1728 channels per person. The ergonomic hexagonal sensor design allows for multiple distance light sources detectors across sensors to form measurement channels (10-50mm), providing continuous and uniform brain coverage. The system provides an average cortical sensitivity that is 100 times higher than traditional fNIRS. The new design concept has many highlights: wireless wearability, true whole brain measurement, and wider applicability in various environments. LUMO is directly applicable to all research directions and subject populations, with simpler and faster setup and more comfortable wearing.

The device adopts a brand new design, with a large number of channels (up to 36 light sources per device), and is compatible with all previous accessories. Additionally, it directly supports the use of short channel technology, resulting in more accurate data collection. Adopting wireless design can be used in more scenarios and environments, fully assisting your research projects.

Hyperscanning, also known as multi person synchronized brain scanning, is highly suitable for exploring the neural interaction mechanisms of multisensory systems. The purpose of hyperscanning is to provide synchronized recordings of brain activity of two or more subjects interacting in specific driving or cognitive tasks, thereby revealing the brain brain mechanisms of social interaction. Functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) ultra scanning technology is convenient to operate, not limited by space, and not affected by eye movement activities, so it is often used for data collection in environments with high ecological validity. FNIRS ultra scanning technology provides a more realistic experimental environment than fMRI ultra scanning technology to improve ecological validity and better spatial resolution than EEG ultra scanning technology, and is becoming an important research tool in cognitive and human behavior research.

The core advantage of the UCL Brain Functional Imaging Super Scan System in the UK is the high-density sampling formed by the tile sensor design. The design of tile sensors allows for data collection between sensors, making the sampling area more dense and uniform, greatly increasing the measurement range of the brain and avoiding the possibility of missing a certain cerebral cortex. LUMO provides multiple short distance channels for each light source and detector, which can be used to detect, separate, and remove interference from scalp signals. By combining tile sensors with specially designed LUMOCAP caps, users can quickly create high-density fNIRS arrays, achieving 3D brain functional imaging comparable to fMRI resolution.
