BrillianSe ™ Directly convert high-precision X-ray detectors
Canada's KA Imaging launches its proprietary amorphous selenium (a-Se) BrilliantSe ™ X-ray detector, used for high brightness imaging. This hybrid a-Se/CMOS detector uses a-Se photoconductors with high intrinsic spatial resolution, which can directly convert X-ray photons into charges. Then, the low-noise CMOS active pixel sensor (APS) reads the electronic signal. There is no need to first convert X-ray photons into visible light (which is necessary in indirect scintillation methods), so there is no need to thin the conversion layer to reduce optical scattering. BrillianSe ™ Provides a unique combination that achieves high spatial resolution with 8 micron pixels and high detection quantum efficiency (DQE) with energy up to 120 keV. This combination can achieve efficient imaging under low flux and high energy conditions, and can perform propagation based (grating free) phase contrast enhancement to improve sensitivity in imaging low-density materials. BrillianSe ™ The X-ray detector has 16 million pixels (16M).

Main applications
✔Comparison of differences in low-density materials
✔Single photon sensitivity (>50 keV)
✔Synchrotron micro nano CT
✔High energy (>50 keV) Bragg coherent diffraction imaging
Technology
Direct conversion technology allows for the use of thick conversion layers and operates with a 100% fill factor to achieve high DQE. At 60kVp (2mm aluminum filter), BrillianSe ™ A combination of market leading high DQE (36% at 10 cycles/mm) and small point spread function (PSF) (1.1 pixels). This facilitates imaging for low flux applications, such as X-ray diffraction, dose sensitive protein crystallography, and flux limited imaging of materials with and without phase contrast. At 63keV, the MTF is 10% at the Nyquist frequency. In addition, at low energy (21 keV), the use of a transmissive strip target sample can demonstrate a resolution of 8 microns.

Application Cases
BrillianSe ™The high-resolution X-ray detector has 16M pixels and uses proprietary direct conversion technology to perform "absorption contrast+phase contrast" imaging on the sample, greatly improving the sensitivity of imaging low-density components in the sample. It can be used for hard X-rays, including synchrotron beams. Detecting sample cases, such as composite materials such as aramid (Kevlar), brain scaffolds, through silicon vias (TSV), toothpicks, sweet pepper seeds, drug capsules, lightweight aggregates (concrete), etc.
