In order to save expenses and reduce costs, each coal mine generally has its own cable maintenance team. Due to strict testing conditions and limited testing equipment, the non-destructive testing of mining cables is often unsatisfactory. Our company has designed and manufactured a new generation of mining cable testing equipment based on the advantages of various testing instruments and the requirements of mining cables. This device is based on the partial discharge method without damaging the original structure of the cable for flaw detection. It can easily and accurately detect the damaged parts of the cable, and also has the function of testing after repair. 5: Structural characteristics
For the convenience of transportation, this machine is designed as an integrated structure, with the front horizontal panel as the operation panel and the inclined surface as the instrument indication and ball gap observation window. The schematic diagram of the operation panel is as follows:
Connection method:
1. Voltage withstand test: Connect C to output, short-circuit AB to the connector, disconnect XE;

2. Cable inspection: Connect A to output, short-circuit connector BC, short-circuit XE;
3. Attention: XE can only be opened during testing, and must be short circuited during flaw detection!
4. This equipment mainly consists of a control part (low voltage) and a high voltage rectification, discharge, and testing part, with sufficient safety space left between the high voltage part and the casing.
5. To ensure personal and equipment safety, high-voltage starting must be operated by a dedicated person, and the connection wire between the shell and the ground must be properly connected;
6. Equipped with a dedicated discharge rod, discharge is carried out after each flaw detection and testing to ensure safety. During discharge, discharge is carried out on points A, B, and C respectively with the discharge rod.
7. VI. Instructions for Use

1. Preparation before the experiment:
(1) Before conducting the power on test, it is necessary to carefully read the manual of the machine, especially the connection method of the high-voltage output terminal. The operator must pay attention to this point.
(2) The casing of the equipment must be reliably grounded before use, and the grounding resistance must not exceed 4 ohms.
(3) It is crucial to carefully inspect the inside and outside of the equipment before testing or use, and to maintain the cleanliness of the equipment, especially the high-voltage terminals and connecting wires.
(4) The maximum operating capacity load of this device can be adjusted and limited to 30KV.
(5) The equipment must be moved to avoid severe vibration, and must be allowed to stand still for one hour before use.
(6) The scale of the high-voltage gauge is calibrated at a capacitive load of 0.01 μ F.
(7) After installing the discharge rod properly, its grounding terminal is fixed to the grounding bolt of the box with screws and placed at the bottom of the box.
2. Cable flaw detection and voltage withstand test:
(1) The DC microampere meter on the high-voltage side is only used for measuring DC leakage current. When conducting AC withstand voltage or cable inspection, it is necessary to reliably short-circuit the X.E at both ends of the microampere meter head to make the meter head exit.
(2) When testing cables, the boosting speed should be slow, the distance between ball gaps should be adjusted from small to large, the maximum distance between ball gaps should not exceed 5 millimeters, and the discharge voltage should not exceed 12KV.
(3) If the fault point of the cable is close to the test end, the discharge sound of the fault point may be masked by the discharge sound of the ball gap. At this time, the test should be switched to the other end of the cable for testing, even if searching is necessary.
(4) After each test is completed, the voltage regulator should be reset to zero, the power should be cut off, and the test sample should be fully discharged with a discharge rod. If any abnormalities occur during the test, they should also be handled accordingly.
(5) It is qualified if there is no breakdown or flashing within the specified time.
(6) During the test voltage endurance period, the cable leakage current value can be read on the microampere meter, generally between 0-50 μ A, and the test voltage should be 3-5 times the original cable working voltage.
(7) Replace other core wires and repeat the above steps until the entire cable is tested.
3. Precautions after use:
(1) After each experiment, the OK power control switch should be turned off immediately, and a discharge rod should be used to fully discharge the specimen and high-voltage parts.
(2) Before leaving work every day, the external power main switch (with a capacity of not less than 50A) should be cut off, and the ZK switch inside the machine should be disconnected.
7、 Precautions for operation:
l、 Example of cable fault detection operation:
Assuming the fault phenomenon is cable - relative insulation damage, the wiring principle is shown in Figure 3

Connect the test circuit, especially the grounding wire, which must be reliably grounded. Open the air switch inside the control cabinet, and the voltmeter indicates 220V. Press the power start button ⑩, and the power indicator light ① will turn on. At this time, the buzzer will work and emit an "alarm" sound; Set the switch ⑦ to the testing position, the testing indicator light ② will light up, adjust the discharge ball gap to between 1-3 millimeters (set the regulator to 0, and the regulator handle must be set to 0 before or after each use), and then press the high voltage start button to slowly increase the voltage until the ball gap is discharged. Attention: Only when the small gap discharge cannot burn through the fault point, adjust the ball gap again. Sometimes multiple repeated discharges are required to identify the fault point. Under normal circumstances, it is usually adjusted to between 2-3 millimeters, and the resistance value measured by the megohmmeter is around 0.1M Ω. If the resistance value measured by the megohmmeter is greater than 1M Ω but less than 2M Ω, the gap should be reduced. At this time, it is generally not easy to discharge but a continuous discharge wire.
2. Before using the equipment, an insulating rubber pad should be laid.
3. Operators should wear insulated rubber shoes and insulated gloves.
4. The core wire of the tested cable should be firmly grounded and fixed with copper nuts to the high-voltage terminal, and kept in good condition
Contact, avoid sharp edgesDischarge causes leakage and an increase in current.
5. Unrelated personnel should be prohibited from approaching the work site.
6. After one year of use, the transformer oil should be checked for voltage resistance in a timely manner, and the voltage resistance should not be lower than 30KV/25min.
7. Regularly (depending on the equipment usage intensity), use zero grit sandpaper to carefully polish the surface of the discharge copper ball smooth, and keep the surface and surroundings clean and dust-free.

8. Assuming ABCE is a regular cable, where A, B, and C are three phase wires and E is the grounding wire, first use a megohmmeter to measure which two cables are short circuited. If AE is a damaged cable, then connect the red clip to wire A and the blue clip to wire E. Start the power supply, switch ⑦ to the testing position, and startHigh voltage ⑧, adjust the high-voltage transformer. At this time, the KV meter indicates and rises. When the configuration is set to a certain level, the two ball gaps discharge and sparks or smoke begin to appear at point D on the cable surface, indicating that the fault point has been found.
9. The effectiveness of this device relies on the user's careful maintenance and continuous accumulation of damage experience, as well as understanding the relationship between the ball gap spacing and discharge voltage for different cables.
