If the specimen cannot be cultured within 4 hours, it should be stored at 4 degrees Celsius, but should not exceed 24 hours. The method for long-term preservation of biopsy specimens for cultivation is to place them in -101 degrees Celsius or liquid nitrogen.

The Oxoid reagent test is only used to detect antibodies against Mycoplasma genitalium and not directly detect Mycoplasma genitalium antigens, so a positive result cannot confirm Mycoplasma genitalium infection. The diagnosis of the patient's condition should be based on a comprehensive analysis of the patient's clinical signs, symptoms, and test results. It is possible that serum samples with low antibody content cannot be detected. Some patients infected with Mycoplasma genitalium do not produce antibodies or produce small amounts of antibodies. At this point, a negative result may be displayed. When the Oxoid test results are suspicious, the culture method should be used to confirm the diagnosis.
